Trung Nguyen, President 

Trung Nguyen is an electrical engineer with 35 years of experience in applied industrial projects. He has worked on projects in many industries such as the pharmaceutical, biotech, chemical, metallurgical, petrochemical, and pulp and paper industries. These projects have allowed him to gain substantial experience in programming and project life cycle implementation, from conceptual through commissioning/start-up, plant optimization, and maintenance. In addition, he constantly updates his technical abilities that complement his organizational skills, which are assets in his roles as project manager or technical lead.

Jessica Tremblay-Labelle, President

Jessica Tremblay-Labelle holds an associate’s degree in instrumentation and control from Cégep de Chicoutimi, as well as a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Sherbrooke University. Although she started her professional career, she has already gained a lot of experience in various fields, including rail, control and protection, power electrical studies, automation, industry and telecommunications. She is also a member of “Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec” (OIQ).

Marc-Etienne Bergeron , Secretary

Marc-Etienne Bergeron holds a bachelor’s degree of Business Administration (B.B.A.) with a concentration in information and system management from University of Sherbrooke.

He’s currently a cybersecurity manager at a top tier consulting company (Big Four) where he focusses on delivering ICS, OT and IoT cybersecurity services to industries like Oil & Gas, Energy, Transportation, Healthcare, etc. He has over 4 years of experience providing ICS / OT cybersecurity professional services to clients in various sectors.

James Bouchard, Treasurer

Marc Tardif has more than 20 years of experience as a consultant. He has worked in numerous industrial facilities as an expert in process control and optimization. He has an extensive experience in start-up, process optimization, development of control standards and training in power and steam plants, mining, paper mills, manufacturing, pharmaceutical and consommation products.

James Bouchard, Director

James recently retired from the Johnson & Johnson plant in Montreal where he has been engaged in project engineering, machine control and facilities management for almost 40 years. He was actively involved in corporate projects to economize on water and energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. He has an MBA from McGill University and a B.Sc. in physics from Sir George Williams (now Concordia).

James has been an ISA member since 1978 and served as Montreal Section Treasurer for several years in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. He served as Section President in 1995-96, then became active in the ISA Publications Department and eventually became the first Vice President of the new Web Activities Department in 2003. He was Director of the Food and Pharmaceutical Division in 2008-2009. He wrote the chapter on Programmable Controllers for the ISA textbook, Fundamentals of Industrial Control.

Ron Brash, Vice President

Ron Brash holds a Master in Computer Science from Concordia University focused on secure technology transitions for industrial environments, and a Bachelor in Technology from BCIT for network security. He’s currently a director at a top tier industrial cybersecurity firm, has over 10 years in technical ICS/SCADA/OT environments ranging from energy, discrete manufacturing, oil & gas, pharma, aviation, provided technical cyber security advisory, developed several industrial embedded systems, global technical speaker, and vulnerability researcher for PLCs, DCS, PACs & other similar hardware.

Richard Deza, Director

Richard Deza is a sales professional specialised in control and automation. He has seen the automation world though different lenses: first as a technician, then as a designer, and now as a salesman. He has experience with companies that provide solutions to a range of automation needs: from industrial components like sensors, relays and counters, to PLCs, HMIs and motor drives, to electrical CAD software. He is now an Account Manager at Omron Automation & Safety.

Richard graduated from Vanier College with a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology (Industrial Electronics). During his time in college he was the Vice-President of ISA Vanier College Student Section. Due to his appetite for learning, he is currently studying entrepreneurship at McGill University.

Maxym Lachance, Director

Maxym Lachance holds an associate’s degree in electronics from the Édouard-Montpetit College, as well as a bachelor’s degree (B.Ing.) in automated production from “École de technologie supérieure” (ÉTS). He has been working in the field of automation since 1999 and is currently employed by BBA as a project manager in advanced control and optimisation. He has been involved in all stages of engineering projects, including design, construction, commissioning, and related activities. In the context of these projects, he was in charge of instrumentation and control and was the main contact for clients, contractors and partners. He is a member of the International Society of Automation (ISA) since 2008 and a member of “Ordre des ingénieurs du Quebec” (Quebec’s corporation of engineers).

Maurice Sipouo, Director

Member of  ordre des ingénieurs qu Québec, certified PMP (Project Management Professional) and holder of a master’s degree in applied science in electrical engineering and a graduate degree in engineering project management from the University of Sherbrooke , Mr. Sipouo began his career in consulting engineering firms. This led him to work in systems automation and safety of dangerous machines projects in industrial settings for several companies in the aeronautics, energy, pharmaceutical and agrifood sectors. He currently holds the position of automation project engineer for major metro asset maintenance projects at the Société de Transport de Montréal (STM).

Mariana Lira Diniz , Director

Mariana Lira Diniz has a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineer after completing a sandwich program that consisted in a 5-years program from Federal University of Ceara and a 1-year as a visiting student at University of Toronto. She has been working with Instrumentation, Controls and Automation since 2015 and has acquired experience in multiples industries: Food and Beverage, Pharma, Renewable Energies, Manufacturing, Building Automation, etc.

She is a member of the of “Ordre des ingénieurs du Quebec” and she is currently employed by Efficient Plant Inc. as an Automation Engineer, where she works in various projects related to all components of industrial automation, such as SCADA, PLC, MES, Drivers, Instrumentation and Process.
